For those of you who have been following the Axxis Saga, it’s no secret that we’ve encountered several challenges over the past couple years as we’ve endeavored to bring this revolutionary product to market. Like so many other small business, Covid has slowed our ambitions. However, these challenges have forged a greater resolve to succeed, and inspired and reinforced our desire to bring manufacturing back to the states.
Though our first batch of Axxis were severely delayed, we did finally receive the vast majority of them this past May. Unfortunately, something went terribly wrong during the Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating process on our Black Magik Moon Crater Axxis, and we had to make the near impossible decision to reject more than 160 units. Though it was an incredibly tough choice, it did present us with a unique and unexpected opportunity to start testing our U.S. pipeline.
Now, six months later, the reworked Axxis are nearing completion and we are STOKED (to say the least) with the quality and turnaround time of our new potential US manufacturing partners (It took us a while to get quotes and vet shops). We’ve received word this past week from the shop that they have successfully stripped the bad TiN coating, and have completed refinishing the full batch. They are now off to have their edges re-sharpened and our logo reapplied via laser. THEN, they will be ready for their forever homes.
If you're one of our backers from the original Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign who have been waiting patiently for the Black Magik, Moon Craters, we know the wait has been painful. The good news is that this challenge has given us a great opportunity to test out a number of the possible key players in our US manufacturing pipeline, and we have been incredibly happy with the results so far! Don’t quote me on this, but I believe in my bones we could be looking at a fully US Made Axxis as early as next year!
Since we first introduced the Axxis Hand Axe to the world more than a year ago, one of the main pieces of feedback we have received is, “Add a belt loop!” While testing has left me less than thrilled with the idea of including a TekLok because of the additional bulk it adds to the Axxis sheath, I have never the less heard your calls and have taken them to heart. With this in mind, I am very pleased to share with you my first successful belt clip sheath mod!
Both lightweight and incredibly strong, this clip option offers many of the advantages of a TekLok, while maintaining the bare bones attitude of the Axxis. And did I mention, it’s made right here in the good old US of A!?
Since I built this prototype out of a first generation Axxis sheath, the lanyard holes at the front are not currently an exact match for the TekLok. However, you can clearly see from the photo below that the modifications required to the sheath in order to make it fully TekLok compatible would be minimal, and would provide a great alternative for those looking to carry their Axxis in a horizontal configuration.
While this is still a work in progress, here at Bone Daddy Blade Werx, this option is currently the front runner as it requires the least modification to the current sheath design, and thus would be the most feasible solution and quickest to market.
That’s all we’ve got for now! Stay safe out there Tribe!
All our best,
Sean & Jax

I added a MOLLE strap to mine with a couple of book-bind/belt inter-screws and it seemed to do the trick.
Gives a secure connection to my pack (because we can’t carry such things on our person ….. technically we can’t carry such things AT ALL, but they’d need to catch me first …. and I’ll chop their feet off axxis style so they can’t chase me! Sorry, just thinking out loud).
I do like the look of that clip, and the fact that they’re not permanently (or ‘destructively’) attached. Nice work once again.

Hi there.
I have a question, is it possible to get the TekLock without having to buy Axxis because I already have it and it is really great I love it.
Best regards to you.

What clip is it you are using? I like the non teklok one. Would love to get one for my axxis.
