Why Kickstarter?

Funding a major project like this usually requires a great deal of capital investment in exchange for control of your business. Manufacturers require a minimum order quantity, totaling tens of thousands of dollars before they will make anything with a designer. Because of this, we determined that crowdfunding would be the best way to bring this project to life, without selling our souls to the big man.

How does it work? How do I pledge and when am I charged?

Kickstarter has a great FAQ section for backers of Kickstarter projects. If you’re new to the idea, we suggest checking out the How do I pledge? article under backer questions.
You may see a verification transaction initially, but your card won’t be charged unless we meet our goal. Money changes hands as soon as the Axxis Hand Axe Kickstarter closes and we’ve successfully met or exceeded our goal.

Can I just preorder without pledging?

Unfortunately, no. We can’t submit an order to our manufacturer unless we have the full cost of the amount of the money for the minimum order quantity to back it. You can wait until after the Kickstarter to order an Axxis, but that’ll take longer and you won’t be able to take advantage of the Kickstarter discounts.

How many times can I pledge? Is there a limit to how much I can pledge on any given tier?

Basically, one pledge per person. You can pledge as much as you like, but only receive one reward in exchange.

If I pledge twice the minimum amount for a given tier, do I get two gifts?

Sorry, that’s not how Kickstarter works. However, If enough people express enough interest in purchasing multiple units, we can always open up another pledge tier to order more than one.

Can I change my pledge once it has been submitted?

Yes, if you decide that you simply want to change your pledge to a higher/lower tier level, you can always do so at any time before the close of the Kickstarter campaign.

What kinds of rewards can I expect?

If you want something really special, you’ll have the opportunity to preorder the first 200 numbered Axxis and pick up a collection of other Bone Daddy swag including one of the limited edition Para-squid Flamethrower/Bottle Openers, and not one, but two Bone Daddy t-shirts!
But for those that just want an Axxis, we’ll be offering it at 20% below MSRP. You’ll be able to choose from 3 finishes, and two textures. In the box, you’ll also find its reversible sheath, a co-branded BoneDaddy / Madrock Ultralight Wire Gate Carabiner for carrying your Axxis any way you like, and a 10 ft length of paracord for lashing the Axxis to a haft on your next adventure.
We will also be offering the Para-squid Flamethrower/Bottle Opener as its own tier level for anyone who simply wants a bada$$ skull that shoots fire from its mouth and cracks beers with its teeth.

Do I get to choose my Para-squid color?

Do I get to choose my Axxis number?

Yes. Champion pledgers will be contacted in the order of pledge received. You may choose any number 1-200 and we will do our best to meet your request. That being said, if the number you select has already been spoken for, you will be asked to choose a different number.

When do I get to select the finish/texture option for my Axxis?

Once the Kickstarter closes, we will send out pre-surveys asking for everyone’s choices. The pre-order will also ask for t-shirt sizes and mailing addresses so that we can begin fulfillment on the smaller tier levels. Before we begin fulfillment for the Axxis hand axes, we will send out a second survey to collect any updated shipping information. Be sure to check your email or your Kickstarter backer dashboard for updates.

How much will it be?

The Axxis will retail for $169.99, but if you preorder during the Kickstarter, you can snatch it up for $135 + shipping and taxes.

Can I pledge with my phone?

As long as you are using a smartphone, believe it or not, it’s actually more straightforward to sign up and pledge from the Kickstarter App. The Kickstarter App can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play. As an alternative, if you don’t want to download the Kickstarter App, you can always complete the transaction via your phone’s browser.
